Children and the Paranormal

My uncle was dying from complications of mesothelioma. Answering the urgent call, I received from my father, my eight-year-old daughter and I rushed to his home so we could say a final good-bye. Relatives lingered in the living room and dining area, making small talk as my daughter and I made our way down the hall, to my uncle’s room. As soon as we entered the open doorway, my aunt turned to us and cried out, “Get her out of here, he’s passing right now!”

I grabbed my daughter by the back of the shirt and tugged, but she just stood there, eyes wide, gazing at the top of the bed, above my dying uncle’s head. I pulled my daughter to me, “We need to go now.” She turned to me, her eyes glistening with tears and smiled, “Don’t you see them mommy? Look! They are all around him?! It’s beautiful!”

In the living room, among mourning relatives, my little girl recounts the story of the three angels surrounding the head of my uncle’s bed. She described an older man, an older tall woman and a younger woman who looked like the other. She explained with feverish excitement how they were glowing gold and pink and smiling down at my uncle. She then surveyed the small crowd of relatives, “It’s okay, and you don’t need to cry! The angels took him and it was beautiful. You should be happy, not sad.”

I have scoured the internet, reading through pages of scientific studies written at the best universities as well as psychology sites and more looking for one study on children seeing angels, to no avail. Yet there are thousands of articles written by mediums, psychics and paranormal groups on children seeing paranormal phenomenon such as ghosts and angels.

It’s difficult for one to believe that the population, in general, and the scientific community as a whole do not believe in such occurrences when many religions clearly dictate the fact that angels do exist. Quoted from an article written on Catholic.org
