Plow in your Winter Season

Life as we know it operates in seasons. While the earth remains, seed time and harvest will never cease. While seasons are commonly associated with environmental & atmospheric conditions of the earth, they also hold true for the different phases of life that human beings experience. As humans, we will experience different seasons in our journey through life. Some will be good and others will be challenging and depressing. The good thing about seasons is that they don’t last forever. The end of one season ushers you into the beginning of another season.

The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing ~Proverbs 20:4

The winter season is characterized by harsh weather conditions. It is a period of decline, decay, inertia, dreariness and adversity. Things usually move slowly during winter, some things even cease to function during this season. To obtain any meaningful results during winter, you may have to put in long hours and apply extra effort .

The winter season is not a time to sit and do nothing. Even though things look very bleak during this period, you still need to play your role. What you make happen in one season has a great impact on what happens to you and for you in other seasons. It is a period to plow i.e to invest, re-invest, re-utilize, till the soil in a slow, laborious and steady manner. It is not a surprise that the season that comes after the winter is characterized by the budding of trees, growth of plants, a period of growth, recovery or regeneration.

When you plow during your winter season, you are investing in your destiny. There is at least one thing that God wants you to know and learn during the winter season. One of the greatest investment you can make during this period is to invest in your thinking. Do everything in your power to get your mind transformed. Read and Study the word of God. Read life-transforming books, attend Seminars, listen to messages. Most importantly, take charge of your thoughts. Keep your heart with all diligence.

Your investment in a relationship determines what you can get out of that relationship. You should also invest in your relationship with the Holy spirit. The deeper your relationship with him, the higher your capacity. Your capacity determines what you can do, it determines to a large extent the limit of what you can handle. Under normal conditions, a 4-liter bucket cannot receive more than 4 liters of water per time, this is the same with human capacity.

While your capacity determines what you can handle, your capability determines the skill, dexterity, speed, accuracy and efficiency with which you perform your tasks. Capacity without capability is a recipe for failure. Seek to learn new skills and improve during this period. Become skillful at what you do.The winter season is a period to take stock, evaluate and make efforts to grow. You should come out of your winter season a more knowledgeable, wiser and skillful person.

Do not use your winter season to gloat and wallow in self-pity. If you do not plow during your winter, you will become a beggar when you are supposed to live in abundance. Use this period of gloom to develop yourself so that when the spring time comes, you will be able to maximimize the opportunities that come with it.

Shalom!!!!!!
