A Christmas Classic

There are many Christmas classic movies and new ones are being made every year, but none of them can compare to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It is about the people of Whoville, who live on a magical snowflake. The people of Whoville, called the Whos, all love Christmas.However, on the outskirt of Whoville there lives the Grinch that hates Christmas and the Who’s, because of what they did to him when he was a young boy. A small girl, named Cindy Lou Who, tries to befriend the Grinch, because she doesn’t want him to be alone on Christmas. She invites the Grinch to the holiday festival the Whos have every year. He decides to go to the festival and gets publicly humiliated, so he then decides to get revenge by ruining Christmas for all the Whos. He recruits his dog, Max, into helping him sneak into every Who’s home, after Santa has visited, and steal all of the Christmas related decorations and presents. The Grinch’s plan, however, is ruined by Cindy Lou Who.

Jim Carrey plays the character of the Grinch. Carrey also stars in Dumb and Dumber and Bruce Almighty, which are great movies and I definitely recommend seeing them. In all three movies, Carrey plays a character who is hilarious in their own way and very sarcastic. Carrey’s acting in all three movies is amazing and he makes the movies very fun to watch. Cindy Lou Who is played by Taylor Momsen. She has also starred in Spy Kids: Island of Lost Dreams as the character of Alexandra, who is the daughter of the president of the United States. In both movies, Taylor plays a character who is kind, and wants people to listen to her. Cindy Lou Who’s parents, Betty Lou Who and Lou Lou Who, are played by Molly Shannon and Bill Irwin. Cindy Lou Who’s brothers, Drew Lou Who and Stu Lou Who, are played by Jeremy Howard, and T.J. Thyne. The mayor of Whoville, Mayor Augustus Maywho, is played by Jeffrey Tambor. Last, but not least, the narrator of the movie is voiced by Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins also stars in Thor as King of Asgard, King Odin. In both movies, Hopkins sounds wise and has an unmistakable voice that everyone should listen to.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas was directed by Ron Howard. Ron Howard has also directed A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Parenthood, Splash, Cinderella Man and many other films. Howard has directed many different genres that include comedy, drama, thriller, fantasy, and Western. Howard has also been credited for some of Hollywood’s most memorable films.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is, in my opinion, is the best Christmas classic movie and anyone who sees it, will love it. The Grinch will make you sympathetic to why he is so mean in the first place. Also, Cindy Lou Who will melt your heart, because of her determination to be the Grinch’s friend. It is a movie for all ages and it will make you want to see it over and over again.
