Why you have to start now

Do you have a dream? How deep is your desire to live out this dream? Can you live with yourself if you didn’t pursue this dream? And most importantly, what are you willing to do to live out this dream?

Most people have some vague idea of what they want out of life. There’s nothing wrong with this, except for the fact that they will NEVER get it.

You accomplish your goals to the degree that you specify them.

It doesn’t matter what you want out of life.

But you have to want it so bad that it becomes an obsession to the point that you don’t do anything else. While you are daydreaming about what gets you off the next guy is working 25 hours a day to get it. Every action you take stems from a decision to move forward or backwards. Every day you don’t chase your dreams you lose 6 months of work. If you wish to be a professional athlete, skipping workouts is a decision you made to move backwards. Act as if you are already in possession of what it is you desire.

It doesn’t matter where you are right now, but if you are not moving forward you are wasting your life. This is your life, how could you not invest in that?

Motivation to put in work can be found through altitude.

Imagine you are at the bottom of the mountains. There is someone at the top of one of the mountains. You are here, and they are there. If you ever wish to catch up to this person you will have to consistently move forward, as well as have spurts of extreme quickness in order to pass him.

It doesn’t matter where you start.

The only thing that matters is that you actually do start.

There are some things on your way to the top of this mountain that you weren’t prepared for. But because you made a choice to get to the top, the small problems are not a challenge.

If your mindset is not right, you will end up quitting right as you were about to to get to the next level.

Ok so now you have reached the top of this mountain. But now there is another mountain to climb that will take even more time.

The secret to success is not hidden. Often the most valuable things are hidden in plain sight. These things can only be found when one is ready for them. Unfortunately, describing what these things are to someone who is not in the right head space is like describing the color red to a blind person.

To get to the top of the mountain, you have to lock into this zone and never let it go. Often people will be able to get into the right head space and leave once things work. Little did they know that there was still so much to accomplish.

This is why safety is more dangerous than risk.

Few men know what they are truly capable of, and even fewer want to find out.

If you are risking everything you have, for example moving across the world to chase your dreams with no backup plan, you will surely achieve some success provided you actually didn’t have a backup plan.

However, what about what happens once you get that flash in the pan of success? You can enjoy it lavishly for a while and then descend back to wherever you started? Or you can find your altitude again and ask yourself what you are willing to do to get to the top of the next mountain.

There is no such thing as something for nothing. If dedicating your entire life to one thing is not your thing, that’s OK. But don’t complain when we are up here and you are down there.

The things we have to do to accomplish what we desire are not easy or fun.

The reward is just so fucking good that the sacrifices are irrelevant.
